This paper investigates an artist collective that is comprised of a nuclear family, the parents and their two children. The key theme revolves around implications of power relations within this collective construct. The artist collective F4 operates between the realm of the subconscious and the analytical, in conjunction with the blend of ‘the imaginary’ and ‘the lived experience’ characteristic of the daily lives of children. This paper will within this context, explore the intrinsic relationship between process and concept; art and life within the artwork produced by the collective.en_NZ
